Understanding children's behaviour and emotions through the lens of connection, safety and developmental needs.

Every child experiences challenges as they grow and develop. At times, worries, big emotions, behavioural difficulties or life changes can feel overwhelming for both children and their families.

I understand that behaviour is often a form of communication and that children thrive when they feel safe, connected and understood.

My goal is to help children develop emotional awareness, confidence and resilience while supporting the important relationships that contribute to their wellbeing.

How I Can Help

Understanding Children's Emotional Wellbeing

Children are continually learning how to understand their emotions, navigate relationships and respond to challenges. Sometimes these developmental tasks can become difficult due to factors such as anxiety, life transitions, family stress, social difficulties or overwhelming emotional experiences.

When children receive support that addresses both their emotional needs and their relationships, they are often better able to develop healthy coping skills and emotional resilience.

Attachment Informed Approach

Attachment refers to the emotional bonds children develop with the important people in their lives. These relationships play a significant role in shaping emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and social development.

I use an attachment-informed approach that seeks to understand the emotional needs underlying behaviour rather than focusing solely on managing symptoms. I work collaboratively with both children and parents to strengthen emotional understanding, build secure relationships and support positive developmental outcomes.

Areas I Support

  • Understanding Emotional and Behavioural Challenges

Many parents seek support when their child is experiencing big emotions, behavioural changes, or difficulties coping at school or home. These challenges can feel confusing and overwhelming, especially when you are unsure what is “normal” or what might need support. This space helps make sense of what is happening and what may help.

  • Anxiety, Emotional Regulation and School Refusal

Support is available for children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, difficulty managing emotions, and challenges attending school. School refusal can often be linked to underlying emotional distress, anxiety, or overwhelm. Therapy focuses on understanding what is driving these experiences and supporting small, manageable steps forward.

  • Neurodivergence, ADHD and Autistic Burnout

I support children and adolescents who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD and autism, as well as those experiencing burnout or overwhelm. This includes understanding sensory needs, emotional regulation, and how school and social environments may be impacting wellbeing. The focus is on understanding each young person’s unique profile without judgement.

  • Social Difficulties and Connection

Some children and adolescents find friendships, social situations, or peer interactions challenging. This can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, or frustration. Therapy supports the development of social understanding, confidence, and emotional safety in relationships.

Parent Involvement

Parents play a central role in supporting their child's emotional wellbeing. As part of our attachment-informed approach, parent involvement is often an important aspect of therapy. I work collaboratively with parents to better understand their child's emotional needs and develop practical strategies that support positive outcomes at home. My goal is to empower families with knowledge, understanding and practical support.
